Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI)
Once you complete the Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) course and pass the written exam you will be endorsed per §61.183 (d) and have 18+ hours of ground logged.

About the event
During this three-day course each student will review all relevant information from the Aviation Instructors Handbook, take a pre assessment FOI test, a finial FOI practice exam, receive instruction on the CFI practical oral exam and practice oral questioning with the instructor and other students. This course includes 18+ hours of ground instruction.
At the completion of the course and passing the finial FOI practice exam with an eighty percent or higher, the student will receive a logbook endorsement from the instructor to take the FOI written exam. The student will also be prepared for the FOI oral portion of the CFI practical test. Each student will receive a FOI certificate of course completion.
“This course not intended to teach the student all the questions in the FOI written exam. The course is designed to review all relevant FOI material and identify areas the student should concentrate on for competency”.
Required books and reference material (soft or hard copy):
Aviation Instructors Handbook (2008) – must be read and the student needs a working knowledge of material.

FAA-S-8081-6D - Flight Instructor PTS for Airplane June 2012 (Effective December 1, 2012)
FAA-S-ACS-7A - Commercial ACS Airplane (SEL, MEL, SES, MES)
FAA-S-ACS-6B - Private Pilot ACS Airplane (SEL, MEL, SES, MES)
Each student should have previously studied and be prepared to take the FOI written.
