The Fine Print
UFS runs a busy flight training operation that is active every day, and we want to provide an option for renters that operates in harmony with our training operation! That being said there are a few things to know:
1. Block Schedule: UFS books all reservations on a block schedule with 2.5-hour blocks starting a predetermined times each day. Rentals must be booked in alignment with these blocks, and a minimum charge of 1 hour per 2.5-hour block booked will apply.
2. Longer trips: We know that longer trips may be in some renters plans, but rentals of more than 5 hours (2 consecutive blocks) require management approval. Additionally Non-instrument-rated pilots are limited to a 150 NM radius form KDWH and Instrument-rated & current pilots are limited to 3000 NM.
3. Night Flying: Any portion of the rental occurring after evening civil twilight or before morning civil twilight requires the pilot to be instrument rated, current, and proficient – even if the flight is conducted under VFR. Additionally, after hours renters must appear at UFS in person before closing time to be dispatched.
4. Cancellations: Flight cancellations represent a material loss to UFS’s other customers. If you cancel a flight once it is booked, you will be subject to a cancellation fee that gets progressively higher the closer to the rental start time the cancellation is requested. Cancellations made due to weather below a pilot’s personal minimums may be eligible to be waived or forgiven if the weather in question effects KDWH.
